MTP AV parallel connection for Mac OSX?

I know about the problems using a (old) MTP AV under Mac OSX, unless it is the USB version. I recently bought the parallel version and though it now happily is integrated in my Mac OS9/Mac OSX combo, I still wonder if a parallel to USB adapter would allow me to connect this device directly to my Mac OSX computer (a Mac Pro btw). Or does one always need specific MIDI drivers? TIA!
