I would like to know if there is a way to create an audio patch phrase in dp8?

I'd try to answer but have no clue what that means. Can you elaborate?

Patch is an ambiguous word. You're going to have to give us some context and clues.

I'm sorry I didn't explain myself well enough. I would like my audio file tempo to change automatically when you change the tempo of the sequence.

That's called an audio patch phrase? I don't get the connection. Well, whatever...

I can't vouch for the quality of the sound of audio that has been time-stretched to match a sequence tempo, but it can be done; maybe not "automatically." In the DP8 manual, the chapter on that subject is 49, and starts on page 615. If your manual is not the same as mine, look for the chapter called "Tempos and Audio," or look up in the index "Adjust Soundbites to Sequence Tempo."

Thanks Shooshie, I'll read that chapter.

No, not automatically, other than simple stuff like sliced loops.

If you're looking for something like elastic audio or flex time, it's not (yet) in DP. You can do all the same things, but once you have audio in a sequence, you have to apply one of the methods of stretching/shrinking/quantizing audio each time you make changes to the tempo.

MachFive IRCAM is exceptional at stretching audio.

Yes, someday DP will do it dynamically and that will be great.

Place your bets... DP X?

I'm just hoping that IRCAM loosens up their licensing policies and lets MOTU rent the time/pitch stretching/shifting algorithms and put them permanently into DP. Only then would I feel really good about automatic tempo changes in the audio. Of course, by THAT time, there'll be a new algorithm. Maybe they'll get that one!
