Funny how seeing billions of dollars slipping through their fingers can motivate a company to get a new release out, PRONTO!

Can Microsoft move that fast?

Been trying to download 8.0.2 for two days now. Their servers are slammed and keep timing out. I wish Apple would just abandon the Media Event model and put things out when they're ready. The stuff is going to sell regardless. :banghead:

Well, it depends. If you're talking about protecting their users, probably not. But if you're talking about swooping down on a competitor, buying them up and shutting them down, Microsoft is a regular Cheetah.

Has MS released a version of a Phone operating system that prevented you from making phone calls? It's nice that Apple got a fix out quickly, but this was a grand screw up. I hope they've put the champagne bottles aside to take a long hard look at themselves.

I like that, a regular cheetah. :)

We're all human -- even Apple in their collective. I think it's good for them to be humbled a bit. Too bad it had to be such an inconvenience for so many people, though.

And they fixed it in a day, unlike Microsoft and their OS disasters. Ill take Apple any day over those other guys. Innovation always requires risk!

Connect it to a Mac and upload through iTunes. Only took a few minutes on my iPhone and iPad Air.

Anyone loaded 8.02 onto their iPad yet? Did it break anything? Fix anything? Is it safe?

Enquiring minds want to know....

I've done that, but it keeps cycling through and telling me I need to update (even though I just did).
arghh.
Busy with other stuff today, will look @ it again tonight.

I got that - it seemed like the messages were impatient. I don't know. I just let it go through the process and I was done.

Safari is a bit weird on a few sites now. I thought it was iOS 8 / 8.02 but, when I ran the latest version from my Mac, both sites did the same thing. Chrome does not.

I still have Safari in iOS 8 crashing on this site. I am able to replicate by the way I hit the Delete key. Again, Chrome behaves.

Other than that, there are minor battery drain issues. I have to go into the System and check all me preferences. No doubt a few processes I can live without in favor of better battery life. It's not nearly the problem that I had with iOS 7 on my iPad and iPhone 4S (I have a 5S now).

Not terribly encouraging, is it?

Problems here and there, it would seem...

I'm on 8.0.2 now and nothing too drastic to report. Biggest problems are with 3rd party apps that are very buggy and playing catch up on nearly a daily basis. The most notable one is the DropBox app, which will not read .rtf files any more. And, no, the DP control app still does not work.
