Can't Authorize DP7 on a Macbook Pro 2014

Bought the new MBP 15" 2014 top of the line and need to authorize my DP7.12 CD.
Motu tech links was advising me to use another Mac in a target mode. Sure thing, I can see the CD mounted but DP authorization can not access the cd for a "ping".
Next, went to the Apple store to buy a SuperDrive and same thing happened again. I can see the cd but DP authorizer can't authorize.
Next, try another external cd drive made by LG, same issue.

At this point I am unable to authorize the software which I paid for.
I am curious to see what Motu tells me this time I should do.
Any ideas out there?
I am frustrated...

You must update to 7.24 to authorize in OS 10.7 or later. Download and run the updater from MOTU. Then any DP 7.x CD will work.
