I had an experience where I was helping out with the tech crew at a charity event. They were trying to work out logistics of the show. Many "name" entertainers were donating time. I can't remember the details now, but I think it became necessary to ask a performer if they'd play in *front* of the stage curtain so that a changeover could happen. One performer that was not really all that well known was the problem and her manager was a very large, imposing man and made a major stink that I was in the vicinity of and the manager felt it was very much all about her. I get it. But she wasn't the draw. As I recall, a female entertainer whose name escapes me right now, who was much more well-known (you'd know her name if I can remember), rather graciously said "No problem. We're just trying to raise money here, etc." It was not a *broadcast* event, etc.

And yeah... it's a fine line. Creative types are often too easily pushed around, but sometimes they can do themselves a disservice by hiring managers who are too difficult. :(
