828 mk II/Lion issue

I have a 1st run Mac Pro with the 2.66 dual intels. Historically, I've had issues where I couldn't get audio thru the 828mk2 for startup music, the mail "whoosh", etc. I would just get pops/clicks. But I got audio just fine thru Sibelius, DP, iTunes, & YouTube with the 828mk2 & I was running Snow Leopard, so I didn't bother to look into it. In effort to fix a printer issue I installed Lion, now my audio's TOTALLY gone, everything pops/clicks.

Sad part to all this is now the printer works fine. :banghead:

Any/ALL insight/suggestions MUCH appreciated.

Page 56 of 828 manual to reset factory Defaults. Might need an update in your 828 FW driver from MOTU.

Oh my. Did that work?

The reason I ask is that Apple broke a lot of printing and scanning related functions in 10.7. These weren't resolved till 10.8.2 (which, in my system, caused every old, incompatible program to crash my Mac till I rooted them all out...). Anyway, printing came back to life much improved and wireless scanning was added to Bonjour in 10.8.2.

I want to say thanks for factory settings advice. I've been pulling what's left of my hair out trying to get sound back on my 828mk2 with Mountain Lion. The reset worked like a charm.

Now, what to do with the 828x that I just ordered out of desperation.

Since the 828x includes Cue Mix FX and is forward compatible with newer Macs (should you ever update your hardware), I'd sell the 828mkII while it works well.

But I am not you.
