Virus in MachFive Update 3.2 ? [RESOLVED-NO!]

Post by Rookie2 »

hi to everyone,

i am new to this forum and i have a little problem.
after downloading the 3.2 from motu I extraced and installed it.

But in the middel of the installation process my virus scanner
(Antivir by Avira) detected:
TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen2 in File MacheFive.exe

Did anyone of you get the same massage? is this a regular behaviour?
I can't belive that motu uploaded a corrupt file for update.
Hope, you guys have some suggestions for me.

Best regards,
guido

Disabling virus software during installations that touch system folders is pretty standard practice. Do the install and THEN scan for a virus.

If you downloaded from MOTU the file doesn't have a virus.

Thanks for your answer, midilifecrisis.

I disabled the virus software, then installed machfive 3.2 again.
After finnishig installation I scanned my system and
got the same massage again:

found "TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen" im MachFive3.exe

Can anybody check the win32 update, please!!

Call or email MOTU. I'm sure you will get a definitive answer.

This is a false positive in Avira related to PACE Eden protection.
Avira uses heuristic based detection to determine virus and not an actual signature which leads to some false positive.

Pace are already aware of it and have contacted Avira about it AFAIK

Just for kicks, I let iAntivirus do a complete system scan - took 12 hours but was only mildly intrusive. It found nothing. Nice to know.
