How can I put ISRC codes into my finished track ?

At the moment I just the 'burn to disc' option in my DP 7.2.4, but now I want to include ISRCs in my finished tracks, in both .WAV and mp3 formats ?

You need a mastering program for that. I use Bias "defuncto" Peak and WaveLab.

I think I have perhaps confused myself by thinking they are like some kind of watermark buried in the digital audio ?

When they talk of embedding the ISRC, does that just mean putting ISRCs are in the metadata tag fields, ie they are stored digitally in relation to the audio, in separate fields, or are they used just as stock control codes in a paper system, for both the mp3s and the audio files ?

The UPC and ISRC codes are part of a Red Book CD's header, not part of the tracks themselves. When I self-mastered my album, I did it in Roxio Jam (which, at that point, used Toast as a front end for the actual burning), but my iBook's burner wasn't capable of actually burning that part (or something was lost in that version of Jam/Toast), so none of the resulting CDs I got back from the replicator had UPCs or ISRCs on them.

Toast 11 inherited most of those features from Jam, so you can actually enter all that info, plus CD-Text, right in the Audio CD window.

Unfortunately, if you did not own Logic Studio 8 or 9, you don't have Waveburner. I'm pretty sure it was never bundled with anything else nor offered alone. OTOH, it still works in ML.

Toast 11 isn't the only game in town that supports user ISRC codes but it is convenient and works well. It is available for $39 from a few places nowadays.

There's always DSP Quatro which does many things but CD mastering with user ISRC codes is one of them.

Correct. I guess I assumed everyone has Logic.

Even those who bought Logic Pro are out of luck - gotta be Studio.

You assumed correctly about me.

Couldn't be easier.

In Toast 11, highlight a track then click on the More button to the right. A menu will pop up with two buttons at the top. Click on Track and you'll see it. The Disk button is where you put the UPC and other info.

Thanks everyone for your replies..

I looked at Toast 11, but it does not run on a PPC G5.

Toast 10 does, but there are various threads saying the ISRC facility does not work as it should.

However, I do happen to have Logic 8 studio, so I will check that out.
