Questions about microphones and ibook

Post by bthompson »

I have an ibook G4 and work with DP. I currently own no microphones to record with. I would like to find a microphone that i can take outside and record sounds naturally occurring( a river running, tree rustling, cars driving, etc) What kind of mic is best for this kind of use. Also what equipment do I need to plug this mic into my ibook and use DP to record these sounds. Thanks

i would suggest a NICE stereo MIC. Purchase either THE TRAVELER, or the 828mkII if you have access to ACPower in the field
Dual Quad-Core 2.8 GHz Mac Pro 3,1 • Yosemite • 24 GB RAM • MOTU 2408mk3 (x's 2) • DP 10.xx • Finale 25 • Logic • PT 12 • +outboard gear

MOTU Traveler is a great pick for a portable audio interface. Really nice preamps and A/D for the price, and it'll power via firewire.

And for mic, I'd recommend a Sennheiser shotgun with windscreen. This'll allow you to record directionally with good control.
