I was searching the forum for a fix of this specific problem. It happens constantly and I'm more than annoyed by it. I specifically make new sequences so I can start at a given TC with my 2 measures countoff, but DP *never* starts "in time" on measure 1. What gives???

I have to admit I'm beginning to get fed up with DP these days. I'm working on different projects where I always get OMFs from other studios and DP, about 75% of the time, crashes when trying to import them. When I make OMFs myself, I check them in ProTools and guess what, ProTools can *never* locate the audio files, eventhough they're embedded most of the time. This is ridiculous and unfortunately impossible for me to continue to work with DP in these conditions (not to mention projects that take ages to open). I've switched back to ProTools 11 which is, I'm afraid to say, rock-solid so far and much more reliablethan DP (8.0.6), at least for my needs. Having said that, if there's indeed a fix for this countoff thing, I'd be happy to hear it as well.

I'm just curious as to why,so I'll see if I can track it down with MOTU's help. As for why I often start projects at bar one... it makes keeping track of real time easy, without having to screw around with start times or do math in my head. When I'm producing stuff that has to fade out at 00:00:29:15, it's just easier to start at the first beat.
Have you tried just loading this chunk into a new project? If it's the project at fault, that might frix it.

... er... it might even FIX it! :shake:

I don't have the answer to the click problem; I haven't been using that lately, so I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to the river. But I'm sad to hear that DP can't be what you need. Pro Tools is usually solid, so there's nothing wrong with THAT choice. But I hope that in the near future DP will get back to its former solidity for most users, with all features working intuitively, none seeming like a kludge.

Best of luck, Morpheo, and come back to see us some time!

I'm still getting this in 8.06, unfortunately. I use Insert Measures before bar 1. DP's count-in feature doesn't work for me.

nahh I'm not going anywhere shooshie (but I have to try to visit more often dammit! :D ) I'm not gonna stop using DP, but for now I have to dedicate it to specific and complex MIDI needs, because it will always rule in that area imo. But my upcoming projects will be done in ProTools simply because everyone around me is using it and like I said it just works, and fast too. I can't take the risk of delivering corrupted stems for a final mix just because DP decides to act weird in the OMF department. 8.0.6 is also less stable than 8.0.5 (loading a patch from a third-party library in Kontakt within DP sometimes can be a risky adventure  ). Anyway I will always feel at home with DP, but I must admit Avid did a great job with PT 11.

I don't know if you're using video in your sequence, but I do, and for now, unchecking "lock to transport" seems to do the trick, no pause after the countoff. Not very helpful if I do have to lock the video though, but we can't have it all right?

i'm having this same problem, scoring to a video track. turning off "Lock to Transport" and/or closing the movie window doesn't help. the click is routed directly to my main outputs, with no limiter on the master track. other projects don't exhibit this behavior, but loading the chunk into a new project doesn't help. i can't find any other solution on the board, but has anyone found the cause and overcome this one?

I found this old post from (7 years ago?), but I am having this problem.

I never really use count-offs, but need to for this project.

I'm having the lag problem.

No data or controllers or conductor-track-events in the measure, no movie loaded, but there is a lag between count-off and play.

I tried re-setting latency down to 128, but still a lag?

Any ideas?

I'm in DP 9.52.

Thanks!

What active plugins do you have loaded? Try bypassing and see if you still have this problem You can reengage for mixdown. I'm not referring to your VIs, of course.
