Unable to insert MIDI event into Median Strip

Post by ChrisByrd »

I'm trying to insert a sustain switch into the Median Strip and I think I'm following the manual correctly. But when I select the Pencil tool and the sustain event from the Event menu, the Pencil tool changes to the I-beam tool as soon as I hover over the Median Strip and I'm unable to insert the event. I've got Snap to Grid set and the unit set to a quarter note. Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks in advance

Chris

Not in front of DP right now but another way is to just insert the controller (64) in the Event List with values: 0-63 = Off...64-127= On.

I don't think you can use the pencil in the median. I generally hit record and tap a pedal to insert there or opt drag an existing event to the location. Easier still, show those as MIDI events and use the tools in the MIDI editor and forget the median strip except when in Vegas.

Thanks, those look like better options. It took me a moment to get the Vegas reference until I remembered that the median strip is what we in the UK give the much duller name of 'central reservation' :)
