Bounced MOV file Aspect Ratio Issue

Post by Movies »

Howdy, y'all.

I'm sure this is a pretty standard issue, but a motunation.com search didn't turn up anything helpful.

I'm trying to bounce a movie from a DP project file and every time I do, the resulting video is weirdly stretched out. It would appear that the aspect ratio is somehow being altered. Is there some work-around for this?

Thanks!

In the interest of saving time...

Why don't you tell us a little about what your source movie format and aspect ratio is, what you are bouncing to and what your bounce settings are, what version of DP and Quicktime you're using, what Mac and OS, and how are you viewing the bounces?

Other than that, I got nothin'...

Gotcha! Sorry about that.

I'm using DP 7.24 with the Quicktime player 10.2.

The source movie has a .mov suffix, but Quicktime inspector lists the format this way:
Photo - JPEG, 1,440 x 1,080
MPEG-4, 1,440 x 1,080 (1,920 - 1,080)
Linear PCM, 24 bit big-endian signed integer, 44100 Hz, Stereo (L R)

The FPS is 14.64

The aspect ratio appears to be 4:3 (reducing from the inspector's 480 x 360 pixels) and I'm simply trying to bounce a selection from it to a new .mov file. I'm on a MacBook Pro running 10.8.2.

My bounce settings are standard -- I haven't customized anything.

My bounced video is in this format:

MPEG-4, 1,440 x 1,080 (1,920 - 1,080)
Linear PCM, 16 bit big-endian signed integer, 48000 Hz, Stereo (L R)

FPS: 15

I'm not sure what the aspect ratio would be, but the inspector is telling me that the bounced file is 470 x 279 which isn't 4:3.

If you have QT pro or another program, try exporting the movie from there into a 246, not an mpeg format. Then import that mov and try bouncing again. Should be fine. I think DP is probably having a hard time with the mpeg part.
