Hi all,
A client of I told me that there's no more omf export in the new Avid Media Composer.
Is there a solution for Avid MC to export for mixing with DP8 ?
Thanks
Best regards
Christophe

That might be a better question in a video centric site. I'm not sure many, if any, here are fluent in Media Composer.

djwizprod,

Can you please tell me how you open AAF files in DP? I'm running DP 8.06 and am trying desperately to open an AAF exported from MC and DP keeps crashing. What's your secret?

Any tips/advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated!

Typically I simply open the chunks window, and drag the AAF from where ever it is on your system i.e. desktop. DP should do the rest from there. I have had issues with AAFs when the audio is embedded, seems to work best if you export the AAF with an audio folder of the wav or aiff files vs embedded. Hopefully that helps? I too am running 8.06 Mac OS X 10.8.5. I had upgraded to 10.9 Mavericks but had way too many issues with DP and everything else on my system. 10.8.5 is solid with DP 8.06.

Thanks for the quick reply djwizprod!

The steps you described are exactly the method I've had success with when opening OMFs. But of course now OMFs are becoming obsolete (according to the editor I'm working with). The AAFs I can't open do have embedded audio, so I'm trying to get the editor to export a new AAF with separate audio, but haven't received it yet.

And just fyi, I'm running OSX 10.7.5.

Any other thoughts or suggestions?

djwizprod,

Would you mind sharing the steps you followed to downgrade from Mavericks to Mountain Lion? I'd like to know how to do this.

Thanks!

Unfortunately... there is no magic way to do it, at least that I found. Initially I had found a step by step procedure using time machine and some other command line stuff, but it didn't work. I literally just re-built my system, re-installing everything!
