Hello all DP Surround users !
I need to know if there is another way than the joystick or the mouse to control the panning in surround situation in Digital Performer 8 ........
Thanks

Once data is in the track, you can always edit the parameters graphically. I haven't done this in DP8 yet, but in earlier version that was possible - just like editing vol, pan, etc. in any other track. Unless you are trying to do it realtime with a different external controller?

OSX 10.14.6; DP 10; Track 16; Finale 26, iPad Pro, et al
I have tried Air Display on my iPad, and that allowed me to control the surround panners on the touchscreen. Might be good with V-Control for the iPad, haven't tried that yet.
I still have a bit of an issue with how stereo files are handled in surround panners in DP - but otherwise I have had great success using DP with surround.

I understand what you mean. I have tried mapping the X-Y controller I have on my Novation SL, but while that works a bit, it really doesn't make life much easier. I wish that someone made a plug-in like a plug-in I found for 3d animation software I use (Cinema 4d). The plugin is called Grip Tools and it does the kind of thing I think you are talking about. I haven't seen anything on the iPad that can really be used very easily for panning.
Cheers,
BK
…string theory says that all subatomic particles of the universe are nothing but musical notes. A, B-flat, C-sharp, correspond to electrons, neutrinos, quarks, and what have you. Therefore, physics is nothing but the laws of harmony of these strings. Chemistry is nothing but the melodies we can play on these strings. The universe is a symphony of strings and the mind of God… it is cosmic music resonating through 11 dimensional hyperspace.

Interesting !!!!
What do you mean that works a bit ?

I mean that, while I can steer the puck around OK, the control isn't very fine, not at all reliable, and probably more trouble than it is worth.
While we are on the subject of surround panning, what plugins, and other surround tools are people using? I myself am eagerly awaiting the 64 bit version of HEar - the binaural panning IRCAM plugin.

Did you try Hear ?

No. I bought it almost the same day that DP8 arrived.
Decided, having just invested in upgrading my RAM (32Gb), to make the jump to 64bit right then and there.
I thought Hear was 64 bit, alas, it is not.
I don't want to go back and forth between 32-64bit, so I will have to wait until they finish updating to 64 bit. I wrote them, they kindly got back to me, saying "...soon...".
