I don't see a VST version. I just check Plogue Bidule and it WILL load the AU version of MX4.

Problem not solved, but a patch is certainly available in the for of Bidule.

:woohoo:

(I can't remember the last time I used MX4, however.)

I'm feeling confident MOTU will update MX4. There are to many people like myself that want the 64 bit version.

I asked that very question today at the MOTU meeting in L.A. and there is no question that MOTU will update all their VIs to be 64 bit. They've been pretty busy with DP.

I hope so, I have jbridge and I do not get MX4 to work with it. jbridge just does VST plugins, right?

Try Plogue Bidule for AU support. I really prefer it to jbridge. It also has lots of interesting and useful feature although it is more money. I use it everyday to feed Finale as the VI implementation in Finale is awkward IMO, and the developer, Seb, is right on top of every question posted on his forum. Frankly I don't understand why jbridge is so popular except that it's cheap.

Yes. Only VST.

I run both DP 7.24 and 8.04 and I didn't notice no MX4 at first. So, if I run DP8 in 32-bit it will "see" and run MX4?

Well, yes. But isn't it easier to just try it and see? Can't hurt.

You can also use Plogue Bidule ($100) to bridge it into 64 bit but I suspect MOTU will be updating their VIs to 64 fairly soon.

I thought I'd chime in - I am one of those who use(d) MX4 often, it's a great sounding textural synth that fit perfectly in a lot of my work. Because of it's 32 bit limitation, I had been using DP8 only in 32 bit mode since it was released just so I could continue to use MX4, and a few other 32 bit plugins like URS, but I need to run 64 bit to take advantage of my hardware. I've been monitoring the MOTU website and this one, reading all the posts about patiently waiting for an MX4 64 bit version and I too have spoken with the guys at MOTU at trade shows like NAMM. The sad fact is, MX4 is not a priority at MOTU. More likely than not, it will never see an update and it's probably at it's EOL cycle. If it weren't a MOTU product, and a really good one at that, I would just move on. But I think MOTU should revisit the MX4 and give it the robust update it deserves. The virtual synths bundled with DP8 are nice but none come close to the complexity and lush depth of MX4. IMHO, MOTU should update it, add a bunch of new presets and include it with the purchase of DP along with the other synths. I know a lot of DP users out there would really love the MX4 and it would generate a ton of new user presets as well .... and It would make DP8 an even more attractive choice for new DAW shoppers.
So, what do you say MOTU?
Now let's talk about some factory presets for the Spatial Maximizer & Ensemble Chorus.....

I'd like 64bit MX4

FYI... it may not be 64-bit, but the 32-bit AU version will work in DP with 32 Lives. Check out this thread. I posted a screen capture of me running MX4 in just that manner:

I can also affirm this. 32Lives has revived a number of plugins for me, including for instance Slate's FGX.

Cheers

As another option, I am running MX4 inside a VE-Pro 32 bit instance, which connects perfectly with DP, even with DP8 set to 64-bit operation. Works great!
