Exporting Marker Information to other DAW's?

Post by audiorichter »

Hello,

Is there a way to export marker location information from a DP session?

I need to send a DP audio file to a client with marker information locating
where the VO talent started a new prompt and stumbled so that the client may edit
to his discretion saving us all time. Client uses a different DAW.

Any one know if this is possible in DP?

Thanks ever so much,

I think if you create a Standard MIDI file in DP and import it into another DAW it should retain tempo and markers.... at least that is how it works going from ProTools and Logic to DP....

How about just listing some SMPTE time addresses?
M1 MBP; OS 12, FF800, DP 11.3, Kontakt 7, Reaktor 6, PC3K7, K2661S, iPad6, Godin XTSA, Two Ibanez 5 string basses (1 fretted, 1 fretless), FM3, SY-1000, etc.

Just checked - in DP do a Save As and select Standard MIDI File as the file type.

It carried my tempo and markers into ProTools.

Thank you so much for the reply,

Unfortunately, this does not seem to work for me. I am exporting as a MIDI file and no marker meta data is transfered when I open the MIDI file into another DAW. Is there a simple step I am missing? Are you hi-lighting something I am not?

Is there a specific file format in the "MIDI File Options" window you are checking?
Format 1, 2 or 3? Checking "Save track names as plain text" or "Expand loops and capture effects" (though I don't see what the last two have anything to do with the dilemma...)

All the markers are unlocked.

Thanks so much for your patience and time.

Is it because I do not have a MIDI track open?

Maybe try creating a blank MIDI track before saving

I tried it in a blank DP session, no tracks just a few random markers,

Save As Standard MIDI File

Format 0 - Tempo/meter map only

Open a blank ProTools file

Import MIDI - and there are my markers and Tempo.

Don't know what else to suggest - what are you opening it in??

Cheers

Make sure End File at time: in the Save dialog is displaying the time at the end of your sequence - or the last marker

Tried creating a blank MIDI track before saving. No luck... :\

Tried placing a MIDI not held through audio recording. No luck... :\

As I am not used to working with SMPTE in a grand scale, Stubbsonic, what is the process for listing?

Any more great ideas to try, friendly DP cohorts?

Thanks so much!

It is not a list that I need. It is for the markers to appear as transferred meta data into their DAW session.

Thanks for the idea, MIDI Life Crisis.

I am transferring from DP to Re@p3r. I have just e-mailed the client the .mid file to see if it will work in Sound Forge, which he uses.

*fingers crossed* (Hopefully, the issue is Re@p3r)

Keeping you guys posted...

Are we sure this isn't a problem with Re@p3r?
