Audio File Name Changes?

Post by buzzsmith »

Seems like I never noticed this until fairly recently (5 or 6 months.)

Not a big deal, but...

In an older project I merged an instrumental stereo bed for use in another project. The track was named "Track" and the subsequent merge resulted in the track being named "Track-mg.L/R which I renamed and exported to the desktop where it displays the correct name that I just gave it.

Then I dragged it into the new project and now it's called "Track-mg" and not the name that I just gave it. ??

Just curious.

(And this has caused, I believe, an instance or two where I dragged in a renamed track from another session like "Bass" which must have had the same "parent" file name of another track in the new session, and it overwrote the original file.)

Just happened right now, so while it's on my mind...

Thanks.

Buzzy

Sorry, I'm not clear on which file got overwritten. Could you explain that part a little more? Thanks. (I'm just trying to avoid losing anything)

Ack! Never mind. I reread it, and apparently my mind finally caught up with where I was reading. I got it this time. That's kind of scary. I often have tracks with similar names from different projects.

Shoosh:

I should have not said "file" and, instead, should have said "soundbite".

I "think" the audio files have to have the exact same name to "confuse" either DP or Mac OSX. More investigation needed! :?
