Ethno incompatible with DP 7.2.4?

I have a Quad Core Intel based 3GHz Mac Pro with 6 GB RAM and two 400 GB internal hard drives. I had been running Leopard with DP 6.02 and Ethno 1.01.

I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and DP 7.2.4. Suddenly I couldn't launch DP. At launch all the plug-ins passed inspection, but when it reached 'examining Ethno,' it would crash, and I'd get a message saying 'unable to open due to failure of unidentified executable.' I tried restarting; no dice. I tried trashing DP's preference files and then restarting; no dice.

Then I found the following suggestion here in a forum: go to Library➜Audio➜Plug-ins➜Components & MAS and trash anything related to Ethno. This worked great; DP launched flawlessly. Unfortunately now I don't have Ethno.

I considered that Ethno 1.01 might not be compatible with DP 7, which I've seen confirmed here in another forum, so I started installing Ethno 2, but when I tried to copy the sample banks, each of which holds 8 GB, the Finder kept giving up after exactly 4.8 GB had been copied.

Any ideas? I'm in the middle of a project for which Ethno would be incredibly helpful. HELP!!

I have sent you an email

I found in the MachFive manual a clue about copying disks, and that the drive has to be formatted correctly, otherwise transfers are limited to 4Gb..... I am sure this applies to Ethno files as well.

Details in the email.....

Cheers
