questions re installing DP7

Post by GMT »

I've acquired a Macbook Pro (6,2) which is a bit of a change from the now defunct G5 (PPC, OS4.11, DP4.61). I'll be working with OS 10.6.6 & DP 7.21 (might go to 7.22 later). I'm going to search through the DP tip sheet, but if someone can provide answers to a few questions, it might save some time.

Does the conventional wisdom still apply regarding remove isight plugin, get LAME framework; or do these no longer apply?

Is it still recommended that DP have it's own living space (partition) on a drive, or is this no longer regarded as best practice?

Any other bits of wisdom that I may need to know regarding this transition?

I've already considered backup methods recommended in another previous post.

Thanks,

Greg

Just use your installation disc to install it on the system volume. Then download and install updates from motu.com.
The leading cause of wrong answers is asking the wrong questions.

For those who are using an older version of DP (4.5), and are experiencing crash on quit, the isight plugin may be an issue. Tech note from Motu website:

LAME framework still applies. Upgraded to intel and didn't think of it till a client asked me to email an mp3 to someone right after a session and I was like, oops

Yep - no problems with it, works well and integrates seamlessly.

I have not heard of anyone having the iSight issue on OS 10.3.8 or later.
