2408 MK2 and a laptop

Post by JamesR »

Hello,
I'm wondering how I could interface a 2408MK2 with a laptop, any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim

The 2408mk2 communicates with the computer via a PCI card; since laptops don't have regular ol' PCI slots, you'd have to purchase some sort of PCI card chassis that connects via your laptop's expansion port (ExpressCard slot, for example). Those chassis are usually expensive — for the same price or less, you could probably get a well-rounded FireWire or USB audio interface.

Or you can use the 2408mk2 as a standalone converter, though if I recall correctly its feature set is somewhat limited when used in that manner.

Hi guys , here's another one for you : I have a 24IO working fine with 3 Nady PRA8 and a 2408MKII with 2 ADA8000 . Now I got a Motu 8pre and works fine with my laptop but want to use it with the 2408 for a total of 48 ch. . How do I sync it as the ADA8000 works fine with the Motu word clock ?
