Brass Ensemble Suggestions
Duders!
Does anyone have any suggestions for an awesome, large-scale-ish contemporary piece for brass ensemble that I can check out -- preferably something that has a trackable-downable score?
Thanks!

Fanfare to La Peri by Paul Dukas is 20th century, but not really contemporary. But it is awesome!

That sounds pretty cool, BK! Any friend of Debussy is a friend of mine! Can you recommend a good recording of it?
I also came across Malcolm Arnold's quintets -- they seem like they might be a little heavier on the extended techniques.

Well there's a rather cool piece by Pascal Zavaro for brass of 4.4.4.1. + 4 perc. called Metal Music written in 2000. You can hear the end of it if you go to "Musique Sounds".

Thanks, Nigel! That sounds great! Do you know if he has scores available?

It says on PZ's publisher's site that the score and parts to Metal Music are for hire. If it's just for study purposes you could try contacting the composer directly (full details are on his site) to see if he could send a pdf of the score.
