PCIe-424

Post by Tonio Ruiz »

Hi folks

I just bought a PCIe-424 card to upgrade from my previous G5 and pci-424, now I'll be using a Mac Pro

I'm a little worried cause the PCIe-424 arrived in a box that in deed says PCIe-424 card, but when I opened the box and looked at the card it says on the "chipset" on the card just PCI-424 (with cuemix dsp, bla bla bla) but there's nowhere on the actual card that says PCIe

so I looked at the pics at Motu's website and the pics look the same than my card, I know this thread might sound silly but I don't know what to think and there's no one to ask from where I bought the card due to Christmas Festivities, by the way

MARRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU ALL!!!

I just want to make sure on what I need to say to the store where I bought this

thank you very much

P.S. I bought DP7 as well yaaaaaaaaaaaay!!

Hola Antonio !!

Congrats mi amigo on a MAC Pro and 424e and DP7.

The 424e card has a different connector no? If you look at the connectors that goes into the PCI slot, you will know if its going to fit or not.
Not100% sure about the G5 having PCIX (?) slot? So the connector should be different, I would think. PCIe connectors are really small.

Hope you get it sorted out.

Hey my friend,

thanx for answering... the G5 has just the old plane PCI slots, the Mac Pro is on it's way, I hope I can get it the next Monday or so, then I'll know about this new PCIe card... I haven't compare the old PCI with the new PCIe cause the old is installed on the G5 and I'm in the middle of a session, so I can't check right now...

it just was weird to me not seeing PCIe in the new one... it's just weird to me

Bummer!
MOTU tend to be pretty fast at sending replacements though. When I got a non working DVD for MachFive 2 they sent me a new one and I had it within 2 days and I'm in Sweden!

So if you let them know you'll probably have it at the same time as your Mac Pro.

Unless the holidays get in the day.
I HATE holiday days... Gah!

Good luck!
