ethno dat file system

i'm on a imac mid 2007 dual core 4gb of ram 250gb hard drive im trying to install the dat file that comes on the soundbank disc and my system just shuts down completely i tried several times and it does the same t thing. any help would be appreciated.

What are you trying to do with the .dat file? You just need to copy it via drag-and-drop to your hard drive.

When I got Electric Keys, I bought four external DVD-ROM drives so I could load all the soundbank discs. Whenever I tried to copy them all to my hard drive at the same time, my computer made the Pillsbury dough boy noise, my cat farted, and my left foot started tingling. It was really weird. Why would MOTU make you buy four external DVD drives when you don't really need them? When I copied one disc at a time, everything worked fine.
But my room still smells like cat farts.
