Warning: TruePianos 1.04 with DP6 + Leopard 10.5.4

Post by James Steele »

This is preliminary... I can't say this will happen to you. However, I just downloaded the TruePianos 1.04 update and ran the installer and even though the component is there, DP6 does not see TruePianos. It does not appear in my list of instruments whereas 1.02 did. I deleted Audio Unit Info Cache to force DP to re-scan and the AU Examination utility did not even see it and scan it.

Another user who is using DP6 + Tiger installed it and is having no problems. It may just be my system, but I'm posting this as a warning to back up your old component prior to installing the newest version.

FYI, I trashed the 1.04 version of TruePianos standalone and the AU plug, then ran a 1.01 installer I still had on hand. On subsequent launch DP6 actually saw the TP plug and ran Audio Unit Examination as it should have. TruePianos 1.01 is working now and playing the Diamond module as well. Go figure.

I'm going to trash 1.01 and run the 1.04 installer again and see if I get lucky this time. I hoping deleting the prior version manually prior to installation might help. Worth a shot.

Hmm... did this and then TruePianos.component appeared in the Finder as a folder instead of an icon. I launched DP6 and it did not see this verison of TruePianos and did not examine the AU. Going back to the finder, I double-clicked the folder which launched the Cycling 74 audio unit scan. When it completed, the folder icon changed to the Pluggo AU icon.

All my AU's default to a Pluggo icon for whatever reason by the way. Going back to 1.01 for now.

Doesn't seem to be exclusive to Leopard. See my notes in the sticky above.
