I hope 2006 does the trick. I'm not at all surprised (or amused) that this isn't working properly in Finale 2007. I've had this problem with it, among others, and have been back in 2006 ever since.

Hello, all!

I haven't had time to work w/Finale 06, but it still seems to be a DP 5.12 problem, as I can't open a MIDI file exported from 5.12 back into DP. This seems to be a random problem, so I plan to re-install 5.12 and see if that will work. As finale 07 will open other SMF's, that can't be the problem. I think it has something to do with 5.12 on an Intel machine. I've trashed the prefs., and all that kind of stuff, but to no avail.

In the meantime, I'm working the score and extracting parts from Finale 07, which is pretty buggy for sure, but it's working. You would think that after the stability of Finale 06, that 07 would be even better. Sad situation.

Well, they're selling 08 and the 07 bugs are still twitching. Hello Sibelius (as much as it pains me to say that).

MIDI Life crisis-You may well be on the right path, as extracting parts was very messy, as well as other issues.

Are we witnessing the beginning of the end of Finale?

Well, I'm still a bit curious about your earlier comment:

If you 'borrowed' a copy then I would say that perhaps you are right. We may be witnessing the end of Finale as the company looses profits on people borrowing copies...
