Thanks, RainMan7! This post is actually a bit old, revived thanks to a spambot (thanks, spambot! But I still won't click on your f***ing viagra links...) I posted the track last fall when I felt like, uh, countering the hysteria re. Logic 8 release and DP's inevitably following demise... :P

As posted, this was the theme for the 2007 LA Fashion Awards. If you want to be reminded just how good you look every time you get a call on your cell, you can still get the ring tone for free at www.lafashionawards.com (click on link on bottom right of landing page.) :D

The tracks uses lots of loops of live instruments, drum samples and home-made vocal percussion samples, but no live tracking was done on my part. Loops went either direct into DP, or else into MachFive 2. Samples all into MachFive2, my favorite sampler for "rolling your own." I did use my old vocoder, the Electrix Warpfactory, and printed tons of tracks before mixdown through my Aurora Audio GTQ2 Mark III, hitting the transformers hard; that box really makes things come to life for me.

The bass synth is the D16 Phoscyon, and I'm pretty certain it went through an old Harmony guitar amp and then via SM57/GTQ2 back into DP. I believe the kick may be from one of the D16 virtual drum machines. Again, it's been a while.

Everything that goes out into analog goes through a Benchmark DA and back in through a Lucid AD. I never use the converters on my 2408mk3. Other than that everything you hear is all ITB (or rather, IDP).

My most used plugs are the Sonalksis Essentials, the Abbey Road Chandler TG12413 compresssor/limiter, the insanely brilliant AudioDamage plugs, and the sadly no longer available Chris Reed Crunch distortion plug, which is super simple and nothing short of genius...

All is monitored through NS10Ms driven by a Hafler P3000, with a Blue Sky sub 8 subwoofer, all fed by a Benchmark DAC1. I use both DAC1 outputs so I can bypass the subwoofer's crossover (which kills the transients in the NS10s, so I took it out of the equation...)

Ah yes. The end of days for Digital Performer. The DP-killer... rrrrrrright. For some reason, I don't really believe that was an accurate prediction. DP is alive and kickin'!

Anyways, thanks for your explanation on how you set up the piece. I didn't realize it was so long ago. Good thing you seem to have a decent working memory of the gig. Did you go to the fashion awards? (not that you would want to)

No live tracking done on this piece? Impressive. Everything sounds very crisp. Feel free to show off your music more often. ;)

I am sure plenty of models were bustin' a move to this groovacious piece.

Thanks for sharing this. :)
