You know I remember seeing this concert on T.V. in the 80's. It was filmed right here in MTL @ MTL Jazz Fest. I use listen to it over and over again... This is one the reason I started to play bass...

Amazing stuff. His Eleanor Rigby has matured through the years, and I thought it was amazing years ago! Be sure to catch him doing Over the Rainbow in 12/8, and Autumn Leaves with his Quartet. Yep, quartet. That's:

Drums (not sure who that is)
Bass (Charnett Moffett)
2nd Guitar (Stanley Jordan - left hand)
Lead Guitar (Stanley Jordan - right hand)

It gets pretty interesting when he's playing independent parts on both guitars. This guy's a Bach of the guitar(s).

Yeah, that version of Autumn Leaves in on YouTube too. It's more impressive to me that the Eleanor Rigby version I posted, but I opted for Rigby because it's him alone and the performance is uniquely angular and percussive. There are other Jordan variations of Rigby available online, most more melodic than this one. This one, however, just has a sort of pointy mood that struck me.

And yeah, his bass player in his quartet is jaw-droppingly awesome.
