ethno not starting imac 24 macos X.4.9

hello to the motu group!
can somebody HELP me?

my sweet Ethno applicatin stops working...
perhaps since DP5.12 install? or apple update?

i have done several actions ;
1/ re install ethno 1.01 : nothing!
2/ desinstall from original DVD
then install
and then update ethno 1.01

NO start again..

I love this beautifull program!

my configuration :
imac 24 intel
DP5.12
Motu fasttlane
Motu 896
Ethno
Machfive (not active...)

Hey Christian,
I had a similar issue as yours, and I found a solution for it... I'm not sure why it works, but if you haven't done this yet, it might also work for you. I manually downloaded the 10.4.9 update from the Apple website, upon recommendation from a MOTU site. Here's the Apple link:

no solutions ok
my ethno loads in DP but no sound is active ; only just when i drad on the desktop and open with quicktime...!
the stand alone version doesnt load...

help me? please....

Pls always download the combo update manually.Install then ethno standalone will work.

I have on rare occasion had the same experience. In most cases I had had a browser session up at one point in time; whether concurrently or at an earlier point of the computer's current boot cycle.

Please be aware that almost all browsers (Camino and Opera might be exceptions) are notorious in their ineffectiveness at memory cleanup. In many cases, even an hour or so after killing the browser session, you do not get much of your resources back. This can be extremely detrimental for apps and plug-ins such as Ethno (standalone and MAS).

My suggestion, if this persists after installing the OS 10.4.9 combo updater, is to reboot your system if it seems you may have inadvertantly exhausted resources. Ethno is a streaming app and thus is fairly hungry. It runs very smoothly, but may not instantiate fully or properly if the resources simply aren't there to allocate.

Your later comment indicates that you may also not have properly set up your audio and/or MIDI preferences. From time to time, these may need to be reset based on quirks in your system, such as if Audio MIDI Setup loses its connection to your main interface (for whatever reason) and you didn't notice. Sometimes even if the connection is reset, you may have to manually reset your preferences once they default to Built-In Audio.
