What's in the free 15gb of samples exactly? Especially VSL patches?
Comments on how well it works and ease of use in DP would also be appreciated.

For starters, if you haven't looked already, check this page out (and the link on it to a more detailed overview)
http://www.native-instruments.com/index ... 1473c3f189
As you can see VSL is 7.5 GB.
Here are the instruments programs (in a rush - hopefully no errors!):
All The following (except harp) have the following types of programs
01 Stanard instruments
02 Modwheel X-fades
03 release triggers
SOME also have
04 legato/ Repetition - as indicated below by (leg) or (Rep)
(for FULL list example see bottom)
01 Violin ensemble 14 (Leg)
02 Viola ensemble 10 (Leg)
03 Cello ensemble 8 (Leg)
04 Double Bass ensemble 6 (Rep)
05 Harp (all, flag, normal)
06 Piccolo Flute
07 Flute (Leg)
08 Oboe
09 French Oboe
10 English Horn
11 Clarinet
12 Bass Clarinet
13 Clarinet & Bass Clarinet
14 Bassoon
15 Contrabassoon
16 Bassoon & Contrabassoon
17 Trumpet solo
18 Trumpet ensemble
19 French Horn solo
20 French Horn ensemble (Leg)
21 Trombone solo
22 Trombone ensemble (rep)
23 Tuba
Here's the percussion:
24 Timpani (L,R, trem)
25 Drums (snare, snare ens, bass, 2x tambourine)
26 Cymbals (half, a due, tamtam)
27 Percussion (two triangles!! woo hoo!!!)
28 Mallets & Bells (Celsesta, Glock,Marimba, Tubular Bells (metal/wood), Xylophone)
Here is a FULL example for violins ens 14 in detail so you get the picture
01 Violin ensemble 14
01 Standard instruments (All, fortepiano, pizz, sforz, staca, stac1+2 alt, stac 1+2, stac 2, sus, trem)
02 Modwheel X-fades (as above but with X- fades) = (mod wheel control)
03 Release triggers (Sus + rls, Trem + rls)
04 Legato Instruments (legato) (remember only 7 of the instruments actually have leg or rep progs)
The X- fades progs are particularly clever ie for 'fortepiano X' you get degrees of p>f in the first half of the mod values and then degrees of f>p in the second half of the mod values, with half way being like a regular sus.
The 'cut corners' consist of (as I remember - I can check if you like) generally single vel layers and sharing of samples between semitones..... although I have not really checked all the mappping. But at 7.5GB you would expect some economical mapping.......
It all sounds very good. And with quite a number of flexible progs as you can see. I think there are some audio demos of K2 VSL on the NI site too.
HTH!
EDIT: TBH I haven't really used the rest of the library (at least not for a long time) but I have it on my HD if you have any specific questions ......
As for ease of use of K2+ DP.... works like a charm - had no probs ever, I think.
