I've tried reinstalling it and installing directx9 but nothing works

I have a 1,5ghz cpu, 1gb ram, a 40 gb hardrive with about 8gb free disk space

Hi, installing DirectX 9 is the first step but it will do little if you don't update your video card's driver. Check out your video card chipset provider's website (probably either www.nvidia.com, www.ati.com or www.intel.com as they own 95% of the video card market).

This step alone fixes 95% of the ethno related problems on PCs...

Cheers

It's ok with 1.4 actually. But the box asks for more in order to be sure the hardware is not too old (old hardware -> old drivers -> buggy software :) ).

What video card do you have?

Strange that it doesn't work. It should be ok. You can try to contact MOTU tech support. They can send you a couple of registry files that permits to disable hardware acceleration for Ethno and it usually fixes the problems people are encountering with their graphic cards.
