Ethno causing kernel panics
Both the AU and MAS versions of Ethno are suddenly causing KPs. If I have either the AU component or the MAS bundle in their plugins folders any DAW that uses VIs (Peak launches fine) KPs on launch. ...seems weird that they've BOTH been corrupted.
I repaired permissions. Any other ideas?
thanks!

Reinstalled. No effect. MOTU suggested I update the iLok driver, which I did. Now I can launch DP w/o a KP, but it takes an excruciatingly long time to launch. The DP startup screen sits on Ethno for about two minutes every time. Standalone also takes a really long time to start and makes no sound once its open (not from MIDI commands nor from loop 'play'). Something is still not right. ...but what? ...anyone. -thx

Gotta love customer hostile technologydix wrote:Reinstalled. No effect. MOTU suggested I update the iLok driver, which I did. Ethno seems to have created some OS issues, or just as likely highlighting some existing ones.
[in a nutshell]
Launching Ethno takes for friggin ever on my 2x2 (10.3.9 3.5RAM). In
stand-alone it takes 2 to 3 minutes. When launching any DAW (AU or
MAS) it takes the same for the plugin to load in the startup window.
MX4, since installing Ethno, now does the same thing. Also, whenever
I've used any app that uses either of these two plugins my computer
will not shut down (!). It goes to the spinning wheel and sits indefinitely.
I'm forced to do a hard shut down.
I've tried:
-repairing permissions
-repairing the the startup disk from the OS installer
-updated iLok drivers
-moving the the iLok authorizations to a new iLok
-reinstalling the plugins
no diff. Any suggestions welcome.
-thx

In case anyone's paying attention:
I've updated to Tiger and I can now shutdown after using Ethno. However, I'm still getting excruciatingly long to launch times.

Again, in case anyone's paying attention:
Turned out to be a bad FW drive on the bus. The weird thing is that this
particular drive had nothing to do with the OS or Ethno at all. It was just
on the same hub as the Ethno streaming drive. Removing that drive cleared
up the issue entirely. fyi

How did you remove the drive from OSX? The funny thing is, that since installing Ethno I can't play Reason alone. There is no sound coming out of Reason. And I can't play Ethno as Stand-alone as well.
Something to do with the 828MKII driver?
Thanks for help
