Yeah, that's where I am. I'm in-between projects, but that time is very short and I don't want to mess things up.
I wonder if there is any reason to believe that I'll be perfectly safe if I do a Time Machine backup first?
Sounds like stuff gets moved around a little with this one.. I don't know if the "renaming the DP app so you can keep the old one" trick would work this time..

The only problem I am consistently seeing in this update has to do with bundle assignments.
I had a few red herrings, as other updates were done around the same time, so apologize for initially marking the latest Kontakt update as being worse than it is (I'm actually not seeing any issues with it at my end yet).
What I think is happening is that projects with many chunks and more than one mix per chunk, may have some cached history that isn't fleshing out properly when reloading in 8.07.
The symptom is that long-deleted audio bundles and busses reappear, even if redundant, and cause confusion and (in my case today especially) chasing the wrong problem.
In the past, if "old" assignments (such as for an audio interface that was replaced since the project was last opened) would generally show up greyed or italicized, which gave a good hint. Or things might get reassigned to inappropriate channels by default, which also is fairly obvious but not always understandable if the project had been recently opened in earlier 8.0 versions.
What I am seeing today is that old named busses are reappearing, but not showing as redundant or conflictive. So I had some that were going to the wrong buss that had the same name as ones that went to the right buss. Yet these were not in the project the last time I opened it. They were, however, in the project much earlier, and may have gotten "stuck" on a mix as I have seen other problems for many years where things don't flush out all the way through every mix of a chunk (e.g. Altiverb crashes after an Altiverb update).
Now that I know to expect this problem, I will look for it and not be caught blind sighted by it. And of course, it is my own fault for assuming other stuff was afoot, given that the Mavericks 10.9.5 update and some other product updates (e.g. Kontakt) are already known to have problems.
Instead, I think this is just and extension of a longstanding issue with DP in multi-chunk and/or multi-mix projects. It doesn't really bother me that these haven't been fixed; most of us know them all by now and look out for them so we don't get caught off-guard. It's just that this one with zombified redundant named busses had never hit me until today.
OK, support believes it's residual info from the 3rd party plug that won't clear as specified. Putting any other plug in the insert position and then deleting will clear the issue.
