I'm on a dual 2.4ghz hex-core tower w/64gb, El Capitan OS, standard HD5770 graphics card, secondary 4-port NVIDIA NVS 510 graphics card, all feeding a total of 4 monitors, PCI-424 w/3-2408mk3's (2 wired via 4-TDIF cables to an 02R mixer) & 1-24IO and a 3-slot expansion box with 3 UAD-2 Octo cards. Can't run below 1024 buffer-wise less I get massive dropouts and crackling.

The audio dropout issue can be reproduced simply by dropping a UAD Pultec plugin on the master buss while a mix is playing. The only thing that brings sound back is the aforementioned workaround, "Config Hardware Driver->OK". Wouldn't be that big a deal if it wasn't so slow unloading and then reloading plugins and VI's.

FWIW, I checked out my driver version and found I was not using the latest, 1.6 71459. I went ahead and updated the driver and it had no effect on the dropout issue.

Well, that would be quite handy for diagnosis if I could reliably reproduce the glitch 100% of the time. Unfortunately, this operation doesn't cause the problem on my system. I can drop in in a UAD Pultec (or any other plugin) while playing no problem.

Welcome to the club sonus. :( Someone else should try cody's fix of updating to Sierra. I don't anticipate having the time to install it until June.

...btw as predicted, Mike's suggestion of turning off App Nap didn't help.
