Now, to fix the mess, you need to go back and check track by track, CC by CC and fix. Not fun when you have heavy automation in dozens of tracks!
And this happens with audio automation as well. Those operations require constant time-wasting and annoying baby-sitting.

That's the main reason I REALLY want true editing regions.

Or, if it's too complicated, at least MOTU should fix what I described by whatever other means they want, as long as they fix it.
At last, an issue that hits home for me.

I feel your trouble, but I think the Motu guys DP workflow is : tracking, then editing, then mixing, then mastering.
So, while on an editing step, there maybe little to no automation at all.
Which, in my actual projects, is not always the case!

Babz wrote:I hesitate to say anything further on this topic. I've made my point. Nothing to else to say, really. People are already starting to label me The Evangelist of Grid. I'm a 70s-pop songwriter type! I've used a grid like 3 times in my life. But when I need a grid, I need a grid. That's all.

Don't worry, Babz, if you're the Evangelist of Absolution, I'll be the Disciple of Snap. I've seen the light, and it's grid-shaped. The truth is that in order to get things right on the beat, I've used every kind of trick you can imagine, including looking at the location, then nudging or shifting by the exact number of ticks it took to move it there. Not nearly as efficient as snapping. I believe it's time to spread the Gospel of Yo.

Oh wait... that's the Smothers' Brothers. How about the Absolute Yo of Grid? Whatever it takes to convince MOTU that we want DP to be snappy when it comes to the absolute grid. And even if you are Saint Snappelia of Aprés MIDI d'Grid, your secret is safe with me, Babz!

Same here.

I see what you're saying, but I don't really care about the MOTU guys workflow. We should be able to snip-insert-move around stuff as we please, at any stage during the project, easily, quickly AND RELIABLY.

It is typical for me to get a re-edited version of a QT mid-project (so much for "locked movies") and I need to readjust things. Because of this terrible DP mal-function, doing so is always a freaking nightmare and a waste of time :(

Perhaps MOTU needs to do a little research into all the different workflows that its users require. Work-arounds can really be a pain in the butt, especially when you have to do them over and over and over.

They could do a little research into this forum and see that there's around 10 feature requests that have been consistent since DP5 (at least as long as I've been around).

Or they could just add more guitar plugins :boring:

I love DP, but I think we're having a bit of a marital spat right now.

Guitar plug-ins are of no use to composers of symphonic orchestral music, but I get the joke.

Emulate everything but the groupies, let's keep them analog, and I want nudge capability there, no grid-snapping.

There's no need for it to be 'one or the other'.

Other softwares implement both just fine.
