Random crashes

Setup:
MacBook Pro 15'', 2.0GHz, 2Gb RAM, 100GB 7200rpm internal HD
OS 10.4.7 with all updates
Finale 2006d sending MIDI to MSI 1.1.2 UB via IAC buses
Interface: M-Audio FW Audiophile

Symptom: MSI randomly quits. It can happen whenever- while playing while idle, while in foreground or background. I can see no pattern. After it quits I just reopen it and then it works ok... until next time. Reboots dont help.
This happens... lets say about once in 2 days. Regularly. Didnt happen on my G5 with earlier versions of MSI (1.0, 1.1, 1.1.1)

(as you see, I have no fancy audio setup. That is because I am a composer writing for acoustic instruments and I use computer mainly as a notation environment- with playback)
