Cloning question

Post by scooter »

I have 2 hard drives installed in my G5. I'm using a Western Digital 70 gig 10,000 rpm for my main drive with all my apps on it. After weeding out stuff I don't really need on there I'm almost out of space. If I clone this to the other ATA internal hard drive which is much larger will I need to re-authorize all of my music apps and plug ins that originally needed to be authorized? And will there be any iLok issue for Wave plugs ins for example?

thanks,

scooter

I used CarbonCopyCloner to clone my disk that had OS 10.3.9 long time ago.
I can't remember how I did it.
Everything was fine; I didn't need to reauthorized anything.

For the iLok, as long as you have the iLok extension in the disk, you'll be fine.
That's a good thing about it.

Better yet... use CarbonCopy Clone to make a disk image (DMG) of the current state of your HD. That'll preserve it for an emergency backup and not take up as much space as a complete clone.

And then do you use Apple'sDiskUtility "restore" ?

Or do you just double click that DMG ?
