Orig 896- checking you all agree no drivers will work with it now

Post by Kellog »

Hey all, I am about ready to discard an old orig 896. I downloaded the newest available MOTU audio driver installer that they offer for 896 but it won't install and says not compatible with Monterey. Barring using an old computer there's no way to communicate anymore with that old interface- is that your alls understanding as well?
Thanks in advance if you have any thoughts- Kelly

Nope, we don’t agree.

Barring any hardware issue, the 896 will work with the correct version of the MOTU Audio Installer for your OS. You have to find the page for the 896mk3 Hybrid to find it.

Just want to say Thank You for keeping the flames of ye olde MOTU interfaces burning for so many MOTUNation members with your kind instructions! It is a beautiful thing.

You're welcome.

I keep thinking, "I don't use them (828mkII FW, MTP AV USB) anymore, let's see if I can sell now that they no longer work on current Macs but before they become completely worthless..." — and then I figure out how to get them working again.

No doubt that day will come. In the meantime, they don't take much space on my bookshelf… and I do have the old cables and discontinued adapters that are needed, right?
