Okay... I have the original version and I'm pretty stoked about this. 12GB of samples. $99 intro price... normally $149, but if you log on to UVI, depending on what you may already own by them you may see the price drop to $49. That's what mine is. Yeah... I think I'm gonna go for it.

Be forewarned about Xtreme FX 2. There are some missing samples in three of the instruments. I've reported this to UVI.

So far I found the following instruments have missing samples:

• Activities > Sports
• Machines > Sirens
• Places > House

And also, for what it's worth I'm wondering why "Transportation > Horns" doesn't contain any actual horn sounds?

My install went find and I ran an integrity check and it says it's okay. I don't think this is just me.

Synthmaster 3 is in alpha right now and they are offering pre-release pricing. You actually get an alpha version to downlaod when you purchase. I had Synthmaster 2 so the upgrade was $29. They hope to have the shipping version released by end of Pril but who knows how that goes. So far version 3 is VST3 and AU only. No AAX yet if you have Pro Tools, but since v2 had AAX, I'm assuming that's planned.

Behringer has a new free VI out. Be forewarned their site is jacked up right now so you may have problems registering the free license, but you can at least download it. I don’t know if it works in demo mode for a while or what. I haven’t installed it yet.

Given B-word's track record (generally, and specifically with software), that'll be a hard pass from me.

Fortunately, there isn't anything on offer there that I don't already have covered better with other free VI's.
