OT RANT: Boz Digital: WTH?

Post by James Steele »

I don't want to be a jerk here... but maybe if you don't have time to update products that you sold to users so they can run on Apple Silicon YEARS later... and you can't reasonably MAINTAIN your plug-ins... maybe this is the wrong business for you? I'm tired of visiting my user area for months or years checking to see if you've updated... oh... I dunno:

• Bark of Dog 2
• Das Boot
• El Clapo
• Gatey Watey
• Le Snappet
• The Wall
• Transgressor 2
• Width Knob

Nice to know these are all able to run 32-bit on Intel if needed though.

Seriously... i don't want to be a jerk, but something is seriously wrong here.

I noticed Boz finally shut off comments on the blog... The Great Plugin Rewrite of 2022... ummm... 2023... ummm... 2024:

I actually bought the whole suite of El Clapo, Das Boot and Le Snappet (even though they crash DP unless I launch DP in Rosetta) betting you might update them before I'm collecting Social Security. Now I'm wondering.

End of Rant... but seriously... :shake: :shake: :shake: :shake: :shake: :shake: :shake:

Perhaps I'll get blocked, but I left a comment on a post on the Boz Digital Facebook page about the piano VIs (which I did buy) that seem to be Boz's main focus for a long time now:

Well... just an update. Seems clear to me now why none of those plugins were getting updated.

https://www.bozmasterkeys.com/

I remember the release of the New York L bundle and those were obviously the first attempt. Each piano was a separate plugin, but Boz has been busy and now he has a main plugin called Master Keys and then the different pianos can all be recalled inside the Master Keys plugin... like how True Pianos does it only this is sample based and not modeling.

I went by the normal Boz Digital site to check my downloads and it was rearranged a little differently and when I looked at my list of downloads my New York L 1926 and New York L 1991 had a link next to it that said "Master Keys Installer" and clicking that took me to the new page. I was then able to install Master Keys and my old, previously separate pianos were available as modules now within the Master Keys plugin. I also had to redownload the sample library, which I think is different than the previous separate plug-ins. I think I'm going to now delete those and their libraries.

Boz is also selling two upright pianos for $19 each for the "Pro" versions and you can get the bundle for $29. I actually bought them because I hate to say they sound really good. I'm still annoyed that this seems to have been the exclusive focus of Boz to the point of pretty much ignoring updating other products for Apple Silicon. In fact comments on the blog were turned off because he was taking so much heat there.

Anyway... now that his new piano product (which again, I admit is good) is off to a good start... maybe... JUST MAYBE... he can get around to the long neglected products now?
