MP3 Playing Order

Post by Klaus »

Hi all
I read about playing mp3 files on a USB drive
'in the right order' on devices that can play mp3 - or on a computer

Alphanumerical naming seems to be important, but then
some info says
i.e.
01 - Songname
and others say
01 Songname
and
others say
'drage in the right order one-by-one onto the USB drive'

Is there a definitive rule ?

And what if a customer also wants
WAV 16/44 on the same USB drive
'in the right order'
?

Help is much appreciated

Best regards from Switzerland
:D

Hi Klaus

It might depend on the playbook system. Is this AppleMusic/iTunes, Windows, a generic mp3 player, a car or???

Do you need to separate tracks by group or albums?

It makes a difference.

It 'should' work on all devices / everywhere...
I have a folder with mp3 320 / 44
and a folder with wav 16 / 44
and have numbers in front of the files
> in playing order
i.e.
01 songname 1
02 songname 2
etc

Thanks
and
best regards

Some systems will sort
01 songname 1 mp3
01 songname 1 wav
etc.

If it needs to work the same everywhere, use a three digit sorting. The first digit is the album number or file type. I have screenshots on my Mac but am out of town another few days.

Apple Music/iTunes doesn’t use folders in the GUI but sorts as albums instead (the folders are hidden). If you have multiple file types, it sorts by title first.

This is why I asked about playback. Again, I’ll post screenshots when I get back.

or
01-songname

01 - songname ?
