DP11 Bounced Files Suddenly Silent

Post by roriol »

I use DP11 for MIDI composition, then bounce MIDI tracks as .wav to ProTools for mixing. I have no idea what could have caused this, but suddenly any MIDI files I bounce are silent. I've checked all my bounce settings, as far as I can tell nothing has changed.

DP is creating the track (as it has done for years), but when I import it into Protools (or listen to it in Finder) there is no audio, just a silent .wav file. The MIDI track plays fine in DP, and I can see audio activity in the correct audio output.

Has anyone encountered this? I am resorting to creating a track, recording one track at a time in real-time, then importing that track into Protools.

Are you running over Ventura and bouncing to a Core Audio file type? If so, this was fixed in the recent DP 11.22 update.

No, still on Mojave 10.14.6. It's been very solid until two days ago when this problem started.

DP version is 11.22 93087.

Bouncing to .wav,
File Format: Project Format
Channels: Same as Source
Sample Format: 24bit integer
Source: Tracks

Do you remember what was the resolution to this issue?

The Out bundle names are often confused. MOTU tells us this isn’t a problem, then shows us the workaround.

There’s an older thread on this but I’m not finding it on my phone.

Knowing what those names mean is all you really need to know—and they may be different for you than me depending on your interface.

I have screenshots in that old thread if someone can find it. At the moment, I’m in NYC on my phone and won’t be back for a few days.

MOTU Support can walk you through this. Go online and schedule a support call. No need to wait for me. Before doing do, download and install DP 11.31 in case this was addressed in yesterday’s update.
