Can't see internal speakers or headphones

I am using DP 11.11 on a new Macbook air running OS Ventura 13.5. I am on the road so I am dependent on internal speakers and headphones. In Setup, DP is seeing both speakers and headphones (when they are plugged in) but I can't get the outputs on my audio tracks assigned to the speakers--the only audio assignment I am allowed is "1 1-2 2", and no sound comes out. Under Bundles, the internal speaker does not appear.
My meters are showing everything is playing correctly, I just can't hear anything.
Anybody know about this problem and how to deal with it?

I suspect that you need to enable the Microphone in Privacy and Security.

In the old days, this was done automatically but Apple now requires it be done by you. You probably saw a notice about this and dismissed it—most of us did till we learned that all audio apps require this.
