Finale 27.4 ships, many issues resolved, last day of upgrade sale.

Remember, that doesn't work for me, because I have no access to the long-dead email provider where I first registered NotePerformer. I have had no need to contact Wallander since the forced email switch, so they do not have my current info and I could find no vendor contact info on the website.

Thanks for the reminder that NotePerformer doesn't work in DP (I had forgotten that, as I haven't used it since pre-pandemic). I'll go ahead and blacklist it in DP.

Why won't Finale work, even after a clean reinstall, in Ventura? Is this a known issue? I have the most recent update (DEC 2022). I'll try to see if Sweetwater has any info.

After deleting and reinstalling Finale for the second time in two days, and launching three times, it finally opens on Ventura.

Finale has always needed way more bootstrapping than any other application I own.

Was NotePerformer still installed? If so, that’s probably why.

Ah, thanks. Probably a chicken-or-egg thing in that situation, but Finale usually works its way past such stuff after a couple of failed launches, as it did this time.

They improved printing to pdf for Mac users and really screwed it up for Windows. A number of the regulars were waiting to beta test 27.4 but they never let us see it. Oops!

Yikes, that's a shame that the Windows update is a backwards step regarding the PDF fonts. I just read the review now, and it's a mixed bag, but I am downloading the update now. At this point, for jazz work, I have switched completely over to Dorico as I get better lead sheets from it than from Finale, but Dorico remains crippled compared to Finale when it comes to serious orchestral scoring features, and they focused mostly on becoming a quasi-DAW with the latest release.
