It's becoming clear to me that I'm going to have to trade up as I lust for more speed since performance will go up and prices will stay around the same. But before I move this machine over to office and graphics duty, I'll hang back for the next breakthrough which I hear will be M3+ and 3nm process?
Almost certainly with TB5 or USB 4.2 if Apple is tired of paying Intel licensing fees. No one knows how fast the proposed 4 x6 pipe will be but 7000–8000 GB/s is certainly possible.

My iMac Pro was still doing a yeoman's duty but I could see its resale value falling monthly—one of the reasons I was itching to replace it. Could have waited for the M3 Studio in 2024 or 2025, I suppose but, when that 192GB M2 Ultra 8TB hit the Refurb Store at the price it did, I knew that was a sign screaming at me, BUY NOW!!!!

I put the 18 Core iMP on Craigslist for $2,800 and it sold for my asking price in two days. Cash with no eBay or PayPal commission.

Looking forward to getting it now. Unfortunately my Mac Pro just froze up. ( have back up though) I have to figure out what is going on
My internal raptors have a lot of my older DP files. If I can’t get it up and running, I may have to buy an old Mac Pro ( very cheap now) to put the drives in and transfer the data.

Is there another way to get the data off off the internal drives that I don’t know?
I think I may have it backed up on an old notebook drive. Not sure yet

Don,

If that doesn't do it, tag me. I will share some suggestions that I probably haven't posted in 15 years or so. Do not download any so-called drive utilities — they never help and can often turn a failing drive into a useless paperweight. The goal is to get your files off the drive and Apple has all the tools you need.
