Daisy chain two 828 originals

Post by snipeguy »

Is it possible to daisy chain to 828 Originals? (I know, I know) I was able to do it years ago but I've been trying with various light pipe routings but no luck. Maybe the new drivers?

IIRC, those don’t have Cuemix so ADAT/lightpipe routing is not available. I would think that you chain them via firewire and select multiple devices in DP or create an aggregate device in AMS. It’s been a whille . . .

These do have CueMix and can be daisy-chained. You must make sure that your settings and routings are set up properly. ere's the Mac manual.

This is the correct Mac driver for Catalina. Because the 828 has not been supported for many years, you will need to look at the downloads for the 828ml3 Hybrid to finds it.

Perhaps I should have said they don’t have mix buses rather than Cuemix. Don’t remember them having any analog to ADAT routing.

Its been ages since I used mine (I bought it on release and sold it the day the Mk2 was in stock at the Sam Ash), but it was rather limited in its routing compared to everything else that came out after it. There was even something in there you couldn't switch in software (was it the +4/-10 inputs or something to do with monitoring?) and you had to open the unit up to do it. Great interface at the time, it was the first firewire box and the first interface for OS X, but the mk2 blew it away as far as features went..
