Working with multiple open windows.

Tracks Mixing board, MIDI edit Audio edit windows

I’ll have a Mixing board open with a lot of tracks and want to MIDI edit one of them. I double click on the desired track to open it in the MIDI edit window. I do my thing and want to go back to the Mixing board window. Everything is not showing now. I have to go to the Track Selector window and reselect the ones that disappeared. How do I temporarily lock the current mixer window so that the tracks are showing when I switch back. I know there has to be an easy answer but I don’t know it.

There is an answer but it ain’t an easy one. My setup does what you want, but I have no idea how I managed to get it to work that way. Once it had the problem you describe, then after a lot of random changes, it didn’t. I don’t dare muck around with the settings again. I can’t make sense of the relevant sections in the manual.

If someone can list the steps to get this to work reliably, a few of us would be grateful.
