MOTU Legacy System Extension
I'm not sure where I should have posted this, since it's both Mac-related and MOTU-related. Restarted my computer today, and got the following message:
Here's an article by Apple explaining it:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210999
Just thought I'd put it out there, in case anyone else comes across this in the future.

Re: MOTU Legacy System Extension
So, does anyone know what these extensions might be? Are they the FireWire extensions?

Re: MOTU Legacy System Extension
This advisory message has been appearing since Big Sur. The message doesn't say which ones they are and MOTU hasn't told us. It only advises us that, someday, something will be incompatible. It means nothing else.
It's not an issue until it/they are incompatible which hasn't happened yet. When it does, there will be a different message telling us that xxxx.kext a) has been removed, b) moved to an Inactive folder or c) an advisory to do so.
Removing .kxt files without knowing why can cripple functionality though, in this case, you can just re-run the MOTU Audio Installer to put them back.

It's all of them because they are kext extensions, but you're probably getting the warning because the FireWire one is loading when you turn on your interface (unless somehow you are using a 424 card or the MicroBook). Apple has wanted people to stop using these for a few years now. One day they are going to pull the plug on them, but luckily they've allowed them to keep working for now..

Re: MOTU Legacy System Extension
It can occur even if no hardware drivers are installed. I found this out just last week after installing DP onto my wife’s 2020 iMac to check another issue.

Re: MOTU Legacy System Extension
I haven't seen it in awhile (I'm assuming they updated whatever it was), but I used to get the same message from some component with VirtualBox too back in the Big Sur days, so its definitely not just the hardware folks!mikehalloran wrote: ↑Fri Oct 27, 2023 9:34 am It can occur even if no hardware drivers are installed. Re: MOTU Legacy System Extension
No. Whatever it was is still being installed by DP. I saw it last week on my wife's 2020 iMac and my new M2 Studio. In both cases, new installs of DP 11.23.
Neither have MOTU drivers installed. My Studio will when I get around to it but my wife's is a test machine only as far as DP is concerned.
