828x & Main Output XLR to RCA?

I feel bad asking what I thought was an easy question but I'm getting conflicting results.

I need to use the Main Outs (XLR Male on the back of my 838x) but my amp is only RCA. Some posts say pins 1 & 3 to go to ground and 2 is hot while others say 1 is ground, 2 is hot and 3 is left floating.

Why doesn't MOTU put this in the manual? Thanks.

AES26 states as a “recommended practice (their word for standard)” that pin 2 on the XL connector shall drive the non-inverting input (or “+”) and pin 3 shall drive the inverting input or “-.”

Most audio products comply with AES26 and anything made since 1984 should. There is some legacy gear, mostly European, that doesn't.

You are right that it's not in the manual. Being made in the US after 1984, it can be assumed that it is compliant with AES26. It's like the gas pedal being on the right if a car is sold after 1940. You can put in a Tech Link at motu.com to confirm.
