vst3 Examination issue

Post by stringtheory »

Whenever I try to re-examine any single VST3 plugin, DP re-examines ALL my VST3 plugins. This does not happen with VST2 or AU plugins. Is this a VST3 "feature"? A permissions issue of some sort? Any ideas? Thanks.

EDIT: It also happens with VST2, in fact. But still not with AU

I can see them loading but they don't re-examine for me. Are your plug-ins all on your System drive?

Sorry for the late response - double-whammied by the sudden unexpected death of a close friend and a weekend set of gigs out of town.

Yes, all on the system drive and in their default folders.

The only thing I can think of at the moment is possible corruption in the Users cache file. Go to the following directory;

/Users/(account name)/Library/com.motu.MotuAudioSystem/

Delete these cache files; Audio Unit Info Cache 64-bit, VST3 Info Cache v2 and VST Info Cache 64-bit. Remove the 32 bit versions also, if still there.

Reboot, relaunch and DP will rebuild the 64 bit cache files you are using. (VST3, VST2 or AU). Any typ you aren’t using will be rebuilt by highlighting one and clicking on Re-examine. Now re-examining single plugs should work correctly—at least it did for me last night. If you still have this issue, I haven’t a clue.

When I did it the other day, they had been created in 2012. Deleting sped up DP loading by quite a bit.
