MIDI Installer not working in Mac OS 13.5

Post by Gabe S. »

Hi.

I've just updated my Mac Pro (Intel) to MacOS 13.5.1. It didn't like my old MOTU MIDI extensions, so I downloaded the latest MIDI Installer that I could find on MOTU's site that says it's compatible with 10.13, but the Installer won't work. Says it's not compatible.

Anyone know how to get it to work? The Installer package I have is Installer 1.6 (73220)
Computer: 2019 Mac Pro 28-core 2.5gHz, OS 10.15.2, 96GB ram, all SSD/NVME drives, MH Labs ULN-8, MOTU MidiTimepiece AV
DP Setup: DP10.11, all Spectrasonics VIs, all Waves plugins, Sonnox AU, Altiverb, NI Komplete 12/K5+6, Plogue Bidule 64 as VI host

I should clarify that I downloaded the installer for the MIDI Timepiece AV which is that old installer. I do see there are other more recent installers for other devices like an Express128. Should I just install that one?

The MTP AV USB is long discontinued so MOTU does not list the current drivers that work. It is a Support issue.

This is what you want:
Driver Supports
MOTU MIDI Installer
Mac v91217 | May 17, 2022
macOS 13, macOS 12, macOS 11
Any current MOTU MIDI interface will show this in MOTU.com/downloads.
DP 11.31; 828mkII FW, micro lite, M4, MTP/AV USB Firmware 2.0.1
2023 Mac Studio M2 8TB, 192GB RAM, OS Sonoma 14.4.1, USB4 8TB external, M-Audio AIR 192|14, Mackie ProFxv3 6/10/12; 2012 MBPs Catalina, Mojave
IK-NI-Izotope-PSP-Garritan-Antares, LogicPro X, Finale 27.4, Dorico 5.2, Notion 6, Overture 5, TwistedWave, DSP-Q 5, SmartScore64 Pro, Toast 20 Pro

Thanks Mike.

Yup, that's what I did. I found the installer you mentioned for the MIDI Express128 and used that one and it worked.

Updating OSes is suuuuuuch a painful task. I do it as infrequently as possible, but at 10.15.7, I was just falling too far behind. So, I made the big leap up to the current version 13.5.1......scaaaaary......but it seems to be going ok. I've been able to work through everything that's come up so far.
